Hi, I’m Weronika
and I am a Derbyshire based doula & birth-keeper, tending to mothers during pregnancy, birth, postpartum and beyond.
Before becoming a mother and a doula, I have lived many lifetimes, as a scholar, theatre enthusiast and avid baker. Now, I am a proud mother and a passionate birth worker, who still loves to bake and who would never refuse a trip to the West End.
I am a trained doula (certified with UK based Red Tent Doulas), birth mentor and a space holder, offering a heart-led, mother centred care for each stage of motherhood from conception until postnatal period and further. I work with multiple modalities that are aligned with my values and views on what holistic care means (to read more about my work, go to “About my Work” page).
I first encountered birth work before embarking on my personal motherhood journey, fascinated by birth and determined to be a witness to change within the maternity services so that all mothers receive respectful and loving care. Shortly after diving into the doula course, I was blessed with my daughter - and the experience of pregnancy, birth and postpartum revolutionised my view on matrescence entirely. I was there, having experienced a gentle pregnancy and a beautiful birth, and yet immensely depleted and alone in the fourth trimester. Struggling to breastfeed, fighting with guilt, drowning in postnatal depression, with my daughter on my chest at all times; this is where fascination turned into calling. This is where interest transformed into devotion. As I sat in silent rooms, longing to be witnessed, I slowly returned to learning. Or rather, I started learning again, from scratch as a newly born mother.
Fast forward to now, I attended births, ran pregnancy and birth preparation circles, tended to women postnatally, and held Blessingway ceremonies and Mother’s Circles. I certified as a doula and a hypnobirthing teacher whilst developing interests in domestic herbalism, Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. I continue my professional development by undertaking further courses and working closely with my mentors. And more than anything - I am walking alongside mothers, ready to witness and hold them.
Outside of birth work, I enjoy gardening, knitting, camping, reading and storytelling. I write poetry, go for long foraging walks with my daughter and watch way too much true crime. I am Polish through and through, yet my home is here - in Derbyshire, and so I love to throw an odd “duckie” whilst serving pierogi.
I would love to be a part of your motherhood journey.
